Praise for HOW TO NEVER LOOK FAT AGAIN
In How Not to Look Old, Krupp aided readers in their quest to fend off the ravages of age. In this second outing, she puts her style and beauty savvy—gleaned from her work at Glamour, InStyle, More, and People: Style Watch—to work helping women discover and celebrate their slimmer side. Those who know the basics of dressing thin (avoid horizontal stripes; Spanx do wonders for bulgy bits; etc.) and are ready for advanced techniques will be thrilled with this book. And novices who think any derriere looks good in any jean should study up: the woman knows her stuff, as evidenced by loads of revelatory before-and-after photos, plus clever tips and useful lists (e.g., the winter-themed “Swap-outs” chart recommends sleek leather gloves vs. bulky woolly ones). The book is organized by issue, such as big bust, “muffin top + back fat,” and “Buddha belly.” While some of the topics may seem wacky at first (“Are your brows making you look fat?” and “Hiding fat with your bag”), a careful read will reveal that Krupp's advice—delivered in just the right knowledgeable-yet-commiserating tone—makes excellent sense. When it comes to clothes and the female figure, the author understands how proportion, balance, and color make the difference between lumpy and lovely, frumpy and fabulous.(Apr.) – Publishers Weekly
"Ms. Krupp's mission is to consider every possible roll, bump and curve of the body and propose ways to minimize it, distract from it, or make it disappear with artful dressing. There is a voyeuristic thrill to reading even sections that don't apply to your own body type." – Chrsitina Binkley, Wall Street Journal
"Consider the mystery of looking great in clothes solved." – Redbook
"…The book is a bible for creating optical illusions with correct garment choices…Any woman can benefit." – San Francisco Chronicle
"about as impossible to resist as chocolate." – Orlando Sentinel
"In her new book, "How to Never Look Fat Again,'' she compiles easy, smart, and chic tips on how women can look thinner without spending endless hours at the gym. She guarantees her fashion secrets will help you by tonight." – The Boston Globe
Praise for HOW TO NOT TO LOOK OLD
"Charla Krupp, a blonde who looks decidedly not-old. Whether mammalian age even pertains to beauties like Krupp I'm not sure; she seems to be on a another biological trip altogether." — Virginia Heffernan, New York Times"Everyone who has a uterus needs this book!" – Sam Malone, host of The Sam Malone Show, Mix 96.5 – KHMX-FM – Houston
"Just adored reading the book… It's fantastic. I know it's going to be a monster hit…" – Nora Ephron
"The must have book for all women. A fun surgery-free way to look better and feel better about what Mother Nature gave you."
– The Tennessean
"Charla's writing is real and from the heart. Her ideas make sense, and I even have tried some. While many beauty folks recommend techniques that are time consuming, laborious and expensive, Charla's ideas are just plain smart, do-able and affordable. Wondering about how to look 10 years younger, 10 pounds thinner and 10 times better? Then this is the book you want to read." – Carol Fitzgerald, Bookreporter.com
"The woman knows what she's doing." – New York Times
"It's the little black book for the gray-is-the-new-blond set! At our age we are evolved enough to understand that wrinkles don't matter....But who needs 'em? Buy this book and glow old gracefully!" – Christie Brinkley
"Had I only known that all I needed to look younger was Charla's book, I could have saved a lot of money on plastic surgery!" – Joan Rivers
"Charla is a perfect American girl who knows how to help American women look better, in a non-extreme-makeover sort of way, and not lose themselves in the process. Bravo!" – Laura Mercier, makeup artist and creator, Laura Mercier Cosmetics
"I love my friends who are blind to my flaws, but I need my friends who tell me the brutal truth about errant eyebrow hairs and too-short-for-my-age skirts. You don't have to take Charla's advice, but you can't say no one told you how to look absolutely fabulous as you age!" – Peggy Northrop, editor in chief, More
"Charla knows how to inspire people. This book is every girl's new best friend." – Isaac Mizrahi
"Dashing, fun and informative, the book is an spirit-lifting tonic for any woman with a case of the gravity blahs." – New York Times
"The book also resonates because, to its credit, much of Krupp's fast fix advice makes common sense. The author's main mantra is a call to simple, unfussy elegance: loose hair, lighter makeup, restraint of embellishment." – Mary Elizabeth Williams, Salon.com
